Our Mission

The mission of the SASS Scholarship Foundation is to provide financial assistance in the form of scholarships to deserving SASS members in pursuit of higher education.

SASS will accomplish this mission by securing the funds needed to award financial assistance through benefits, fundraisers, and donations.  The SASS Scholarship Foundation is a flagship program for the Single Action Shooting Society.

Created to provide scholarships to deserving SASS members pursuing higher education, the SASS Scholarship Foundation has been offering cash grants since 1999 and the fund continues to grow.

For years, SASS tinkered with the idea of creating a scholarship program for the junior members, but never got around to it. Many have watched as some of the young'uns disappeared after high school to pursue a profession or craft only to wonder if there was anything that could be done to help them along the trail.

After receiving a letter of encouragement and a commitment for a donation of the first $1000 from SASS members and Hall of Fame Inductees Deaf Laws and Aimless Annie, it was decided to make this idea a reality and the SASS Scholarship Foundation was formed.

The SASS Scholarship Foundation is a non-profit, tax exempt corporation dedicated to providing financial assistance in the form of scholarships to deserving SASS members in pursuit of higher education.

One-year scholarships in various amounts from $500-$3000 are awarded annually and are limited to undergraduate studies at an accredited college or post high school vocational/technical institution. The Foundation awards scholarships to those applicants who meet the requirements.

SASS Scholarships are awarded based on character, personal merit and commitment to the shooting sports, particularly Cowboy Action Shooting™. Merit is demonstrated through leadership in school, on the shooting range, extracurricular activities, academic achievement, and motivation to serve and succeed.

Contributions and donations are accepted from members, affiliated clubs, annual matches, sponsors and other concerned parties and philanthropic organizations. Awards are announced annually during opening ceremonies at END of TRAIL.

In addition to fund raisers, raffles and other programs, SASS encourages all members and affiliated clubs to take part in this important effort by helping to raise funds for the SASS Scholarship Foundation.
